State-wide College Football Top Ten

State-Wide Top Ten:
#1 Elon(7-1)…This is the hottest team in the state after their 42-7 decision over Chattanooga last Saturday up in Tennessee and now the Phoenix must prepare for their toughest game of the year at home this week versus Wofford(5-1/3-0). The schedule goes Wofford at Elon, Wofford at Appalachian and then Elon at Appalachian, so fasten your seatbelts. Three TD passes by QB Scott Riddle against the Mocs and was that Willie Gault’s son Jare Gault quarterbacking Chattanooga?(Checked on the Gaults and no relation.)

#2) North Carolina(5-2) The Heels fall in OT again at Virginia 16-13 and now they host Boston College this Saturday at noon in Kenan Stadium in what might be the most beautiful setting in the world to watch a fall football game, unless you just got a ticket to see Elon vs. Appalachian in Boone on November 15.

#3) Appalachian State(5-2)…SoCon Savagery don’t miss it, and App has not missed a beat this year when it comes to the close and exciting games and last Saturday was no different. Edwards had 176 yards passing and 157 rushing last Saturday and this week it’s Furman(6-2/3-1) at Appalachian(5-2/3-0) and you can hear it with David Jackson, Steve Brown, and Randy Jackson on AM790, kickoff time 3:30 in Boone.

#4) Wake Forest(4-2)…As the old tune goes, “You better get your junk together”, and Wake has to do it in a hurry after getting messed up 26-0 at Maryland. It’s bad enough to lose, but to get shut out, that hurts, and this Saturday Wake has to go down to Miami and face the Hurricanes and that won’t be easy.
