ECU to play UCF on Sunday night

THE GAME
After playing just two contests in a 35-day period, East Carolina will open a stretch where it plays three games in 13 days beginning Sunday when the Pirates visit UCF in a pivotal nationally-televised Conference USA matchup. While ECU will try to move its league record to 3-1 and maintain its divisional lead against the Knights, the Pirates will also attempt to snap a two-game road losing streak after setbacks against N.C. State (30-24) and Virginia (35-20). East Carolina, which opened the ‘08 campaign with a 3-0 record after wins against No. 17 Virginia Tech (27-22), No. 8 West Vriginia (24-3) and Tulane(28-24), owns a 2-2 overall record on the road this season.

SCHEMES
UCF utilizes a multiple offensive attack while employing a multiple 4-3 defensive alignment.
ECU will also line up in a multiple offense and use a multiple look when defending.

THE COACHES
SKIP HOLTZ (Notre Dame ‘86) is 24-20 (.545) in his fourth season at East Carolina,
while overall, he is in year nine as a collegiate head coach with a 58-43 (.574) record.

GEORGE O’LEARY (New Hampshire ‘69) is in his fifth season heading the football
program at UCF and sports a 24-33 (.421) record. Overall, he is in his 12th year as a
collegiate head coach with a 76-66 (.535) mark. Prior to his appointment to the top UCF
football position before the 2004 season, O’Leary served a two-year stint with the
Minnesota Vikings (DL in ‘02, DC in ‘03). He was Georgia Tech’s head coach from
1994 to 2001, rolling to a 52-33 record and leading the Jackets to five straight bowls.
