Friday night HS football games and the AM950 call

We take the trip over to Page tonight as the High Point Central Bison bring their Black Watch defense to Marion Kirby Stadium. Game time for the Pirates and the Bison will be 7:30 with the pre-game at 7pm on AM950. We will also have updates on Dudley at Western Alamance, Bartlett Yancey at Western Guilford, Grimsley at East Forsyth, West Stokes at Eastern Guilford, and Reidsville at Southern Guilford.

Last night Northwest Guilford and Southeast Guilford both rolled to victories with the Vikings improving to (6-4/3-1) and the Falcons moving up the ladder to (6-4/2-3). NWG was led by RB’s Chris Kennedy and Sean Ples, while SEG relied the running of Alex Harrison, the passing of Kenyatta Robinson, plus the receiving and kicking of Terrance Topps. Harrison had 100-plus for the Falcons, Robinson threw for 200 yards and Topps had over 100 yards in receptions and he was a perfect 6-6 in PAT’s.

NWG 35-6 over Smith(we had it at 28-6 in the Thursday prediction) and SEG rolls 42-18 past Eastern Randolph.

There’s no way we could ever top the job Tom Keller did on his Halloween HS football breakdown in today’s N&R and on-line at news-record.com. TK knows his candies that are on the Trick or Treat list and we better stick to the basics in today’s account at GREENSBOROSports.com.

High Point Central at Page, and it might be a good time to compare the two spread-offenses and where they stand at this stage of the season. Page will need to get that passing game in gear on Senior Night and see if HPC can hang with the “Air Attack” that Pirate QB Will Newman is bringing to the field. Page can also run the ball, but do you want to try and do it the hard way against the “Black Watch Defense”? Drew Adams is the young Bison QB and he has help from the speedy Desmeion Kennedy but with Page LB’s Josh Black and Chase Johnson flying in it could get tough for HPC. Page wins it on Senior Night which to me seems a bigger theme at Kirby Stadium than Halloween, but the score should be near 24-10, Pirates. You will get a chance to see two very good kickers in Matt Millisor(Shrine Bowl selection) from Page and Austin Miller from HPC.

Dudley at Western Alamance, and if you are me you have to go the route and like the Panthers’ chances ever better after Western Guilford proved that WA can and will go down this year after the Hornets beat WA 27-24 at WG last Friday night. Dudley can use this game to help with their home stand for the upcoming 3-AA playoffs and it will also help pave the way for the Triad 3-A Conference title. We’ll take Dudley, 22-13 over Western Alamance.

Bartlett Yancey at Western Guilford, and if you are WG you’re still feeling the good effects of last week’s win over WA and you might get caught looking ahead to next week’s game over at Dudley. Bartlett Yancey won’t get in the way of either of those issues as WG tops BY, 35-7. Rockingham County at Northeast Guilford, where the Rams will take out many of the frustrations they are still carrying from last Friday’s 52-7 loss at home versus Dudley. NEG wins big with the running game running wild and they might even let Darius White toss in a few passes as the Rams roll, 49-6. Kennedy Charter visits Northern Guilford and doesn’t matter if they bring Jack, John, Robert, Ted, Mr. Kennedy from the WWE or even Jayne Kennedy from the old NFL Today Show, NG wins again to go (9-1), Nighthawks 56-13.

Reidsville at Southern Guilford, and you hate this, but the schedule finally catches up with the SG Storm and they fall to the unbeaten Reidsville Rams 35-14 at C.K. Siler Stadium. West Stokes at Eastern Guilford and the Wildcats need this one in bad way after Monday’s loss to McMichael and this evening it’s EG over WS, 31-21. Grimsley travels to face East Forsyth and Danny O’Brien in Kernersville and EF takes out the Whirlies and moves one step closer to that Metro 4-A title with a 28-13 win over GHS. Southwest Guilford won for the first time last week 14-3 over the Ronald Reagan Raiders and this week the Cowboys meet the High Point Andrews Red Raiders at Simeon Stadium in HP and if Paul Revere and the Raiders showed up they still wouldn’t have a chance, by land and by ground HPA over SWG, 42-14.

Again, Tom Keller gets the award this week for creative picks on Halloween, so check out his work at the News and Record, and be sure to stop back here for the Saturday Morning Rewind and Joe Barile will have our Page-HPC write-up and look for Paul T. Lambeth II’s follow-up on Grimsley-EF and if any of the rest of you have info we want it, and we will be glad to check it out and then print it here at the site. The more summaries the better, on all the area games.

  1. I think all of the Page fans will be frightened when they look at the scoreboard tonight and see the Bison ahead at the end of the game.

  2. Northern Guilford won 55-0
Scarfone threw 3 tds, 1 to Keenan Allen ( who also had 2 rushing), 1 to Christian Mccain, and another to Maurice Harris, Harris also returned a punt for a touchdown, Austin Pauley also had 2 rushing tds for the nighthawks
