HS Football Saturday morning rewind

Our picks go to (89-23) with last week’s record of 8-4 and this week we go 10-1 and with all of the upsets last week we only saw one this week as Eastern Guilford dropped their second game in five days falling in 2OT’s to West Stokes 28-27 and you can add that to the Wildcats’ 42-40 loss to McMichael back on Monday night.

We have a boat-load(as the Page Pirate PA-man Rick Mosley would say) of teams now at (6-4) on the season with Page, High Point Central, Southern Guilford, Western Guilford, Northwest Guilford, and Southeast Guilford all settling in with that mark as we head toward the last game of the regular season.

There was another near upset last night in Kernersville with East Forsyth having to go into overtime to put away a pesky Grimsley Whirlie team that finally found their offense, and Paul T. Lambeth II will have that game summary coming your way later today. Joe Barile will fill us in on the Page Pirates’ redeeming home victory over High Point Central, with the Pirates getting the much-needed home win after losing four close ones in succession.

Dudley proved why they are the area’s top team when the Panthers went down to the Elon section of Alamance county and pounded the Western Alamance Warriors 48-0. WA quarterback Donald Britt did not play a down for the Warriors as he was sidelined due to disciplinary reasons. How much difference would Donald have made in the final outcome? Western Alamance would have scored but Dudley still wins the game handily. Major Bryant had four more two-point conversion runs for the Panthers and he is defintely Dudley’s extra-points man. Ricky Lewis had three TD runs and Dudley(10-0/5-0) will be at home next week to try and finish off that unbeaten regular season with Western Guilford coming to Tarpley Stadium.

The WG Hornets played without RB Brandon Easter last night but they still survived Bartlett Yancey and won out over the Bucs 14-6 with two TD passes by QB Cory McKenna. WR Jabri Ridenhour grabbed both of the touchdown receptions from McKenna. Reidsville played without their top player and QB Ray Ray Butchee but the Rams still tagged a 51-6 loss on Southern Guilford with the Reidsville backup quarterback Tyrell Houghton running for five TD’s.

Northern Guilford buried Kennedy Charter 55-0 and here are the winning numbers on the NG Nighthawks sent in to us by our reader Jeff:
Northern Guilford won 55-0
Rocky Scarfone threw 3 tds, 1 to Keenan Allen ( who also had 2 rushing), 1 to Christian Mccain, and another to Maurice Harris, Harris also returned a punt for a touchdown, Austin Pauley also had 2 rushing tds for the Nighthawks. NG now (9-1)…..

Northeast Guilford took full advantage of the Rockingham County Cougars and the Rams moved to (4-6) with their 31-0 victory. NEG Ram QB Darius White had two TD passes and one touchdown run. I have been very impressed with this kid. Excellent attitude and he as a junior leader, has a great future this year and then on down the road. Not a lot you can say about that double overtime loss suffered by Eastern Guilford, but there is no time to lay around and dwell on that game, EG must re-group quickly as they travel to face Southern Guilford to close out the regular season next Friday night.

We do not have any numbers on this game, but we have High Point Andrews slipping past a hard charging Southwest Guilford Cowboy club 20-13. WXII TV12 had it HPA 20-13 on their scroll, the N&R had it SWG 20-13 on the front page of the sports, but on the inside of the N&R it was listed as HPA 20-13 and the winner. We’ll take the two-out-of-three rule into effect here. The High Point Enterprise had Southwest(1-9/1-3) making the playoffs if they won last night’s game.
