Who will win the only Bowl in the state of North Carolina?????

Friday marks final day of preparations for West Virginia.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Friday marks the final day of Meineke Car Care Bowl preparations for North Carolina, which squares off against West Virginia at 1 p.m. Saturday on ESPN. But before the Tar Heels could take to the practice field for their final walk-through, they had several opportunities to interact with the media and fans Friday morning.

Butch Davis and select players attended the bowl’s official Media Day, and the entire team and support staff then joined them later at the Kickoff Luncheon at the Charlotte Convention Center.

Accompanying Davis to media day at the uptown Charlotte location of Fuel Pizza were Kendric Burney, Trimane Goddard, Hakeem Nicks, Garrett Reynolds, Ryan Taylor and T.J. Yates.

After meeting with the Charlotte-area media, as well as Carolina and West Virginia beat writers, the Tar Heels headed across the College Street to the Convention Center, where both teams ate lunch with fans and sponsors.

Gary Williams, host of WFNZ’s Morning Sports Page, emceed the event, which featured remarks from several people, including Charlotte mayor Pat McCrory and former heavyweight champion George Forman, a Meineke spokesman.

Reynolds was the recipient of the bowl’s Leadership Award for Carolina, and was joined later on stage by Deunta Williams in a question and answer session with West Virginia’s Pat White and Ryan Stanchek.

In a classy move, Carolina senior linebacker and Charlotte native Mark Paschal was recognized by both McCrory and Williams. Paschal, an All-ACC linebacker and team captain, will not be able to play Saturday due a spine injury.

Paschal received a standing ovation to close the event when recognized by Williams.
