From our Greensboro offices: Wake Forest sweeps Player-of-the-Week honors

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Wake Forest earns a sweep of this week’s honors as Jeff Teague has been named ACC Player of the Week and Al-Farouq Aminu is the ACC Rookie of the Week.

In earning the Player of the Week honor for the second week in a row, Teague led the second-ranked Demon Deacons to a pair of key ACC road wins, averaging 26.7 points, 3.5 assists and 2.0 steals in victories at Boston College and 10th-ranked Clemson. On the week, the Indianapolis, Ind., sophomore made 15-of-29 from the floor (.517) and 20-of-26 from the free throw line (.769)

In Wake’s 83-63 win at Boston College on Wednesday, Teague scored a game-high 29 points, going 10-for-17 from the field and 2-of-3 from beyond the arc. In Saturday’s 78-68 win over the previously unbeaten Tigers, Aminu had 24 points, five assists and two steals.

In earning the rookie award for the third time this season, Aminu averaged 13.5 points and 9.0 rebounds in the wins over Boston College and Clemson. For the two games, the Norcross, Ga., freshman made 12-of-21 from the field (.571) and pulled down 18 rebounds, handed out five assists and blocked five shots.

In the Deacons’ win at Boston College, Aminu scored 15 points on 6-of-11 shooting, had eight rebounds and four assists. In Saturday’s 10-point win at Clemson, Aminu posted his sixth double-double of the season with 12 points and 10 rebounds.
