UNCG, N.C. A&T to face-off at NewBridge Bank Park TONIGHT at 6pm

• UNC Greensboro will face cross-town rival North Carolina A&T on Tuesday at 6 p.m. The game will be played at NewBridge Bank Park, home of the Greensboro Grasshoppers, in what has become an annual event between the two sides.

• The Spartans hold a 32-5 edge all-time against the Aggies. Last season, the Aggies took both games from UNCG, winning 10-7 and 5-3. Prior to last year, the Spartans had not lost a game to A&T since 2002, a winning streak that spanned eight games.

• Last weekend UNCG was swept by SoCon foe Samford in a weekend series. After Friday’s game was rained out, Samford took the first game of the series on Saturday, 13-1. The Bulldogs completed the sweep by taking both games of a doubleheader on Sunday, 9-7 and 15-3.

• Last Tuesday night, UNCG dropped a 4-3 heartbreaker to NC State. Potential game-tying run Brent O’Berry(Ragsdale HS) was called out at home on the final play of the game as the Spartans tried to rally in the ninth inning.

• Senior Pedro Leon is currently swinging the bat as well as he has all season, as he in the midst of a 10 game hitting streak. In those past 10 games, he is hitting a team-best .432 with 12 RBI, 10 runs, three doubles, a triple and a home run. He also leads the team with a .649 slugging percentage and is a perfect 3-3 on stolen base attempts over that stretch.

• Sophomore shortstop Ray Quinones and junior Ed Jayjack are the only two players to start every game this season for the Spartans. The two have combined to hit .289 with 20 RBI, 17 runs scored and six doubles this season and are both in the top-5 of almost every major hitting category.

• Warren Slack(Southwest Guilford) has been one of the most reliable arms for the Spartan pitching staff this season. He currently leads the team in ERA (4.05), opposing batting average (.244), hits allowed (19) and appearances (10). In his 20 innings pitched this season, he has also yet to yield a triple or home run this season.
