The Raleigh News and Observer is reporting that Charlie Adams, the executive director of the N.C. High School Athletic Association, will retire in January.
Adams has been the head of the NCHSAA since 1984.
While no public announcement has been made as of yet, an official announcement is expected to be made sometime this week.
