Carr to be released from Prison Today

The Greensboro News and Record is reporting this morning that former WXII news/sports anchor Tolly Carr was expected to be released from prison today, less than two years after he pleaded guilty to charges related to a fatal drunk driving wreck. 26 year old Casey Bokhoven was killed in the March ,2007 accident. Police said Carr, 34, drove his pickup through a construction zone, ran off the road and ran over Bokhoven.

Authorities say Carr’s blood alcohol level was 0.13 percent about four hours after the wreck. The legal limit for driving in North Carolina is 0.08 percent.

Back in August 2007, a judge sentenced Carr to 25 and 39 months in prison. He had received credit for time served while waiting for his trial to begin.

His sentence also included five years probation, an order to perform 100 hours of community service and a fine of $10,000 which Carr must pay to the public school system.
