Local Storylines
PGA TOUR Exemption on the line…
For the second consecutive year, the PGA TOUR’s Wyndham Championship will give the FootJoy Invitational Champion an exemption to its August event. In 2008, Cameron Peck of Olympia, Wash., won the FootJoy Invitational en route to Rolex Junior Player of the Year honors, and competed in the Wyndham Championship as an amateur, missing the cut after carding rounds of 71-71 — 142.

Future Spartans set to compete…
A pair of UNC-Greensboro men’s golf signees are set to compete near their future campus. Justin Clement of Lexington, N.C., and Robert Hoadley of Southern Pines, N.C., are in their last junior golf season before teeing it up for Coach Terrance Stewart this fall. In all, 29 players in the field have signed National Letters of Intent.

Top Players in the Field

Jordan Speith (Dallas, Texas) • Class of 2011    Polo Golf Ranking: 3
A first-team Rolex Junior All-American, Spieth has three career AJGA victories, including a win at the 2008 PING Invitational. Over the span of the last two seasons, Spieth has 10 consecutive top-10 finishes in AJGA tournaments. Most recently, he finished T7 at the Thunderbird International Junior.

Patrick Winther (Howey-in-the-Hills, Fla.) • Class of 2010    Polo Golf Ranking: 4
Winther has burst onto the junior golf scene in the past year, recording three victories in his last seven AJGA starts. Wins at the 2008 Polo Golf Junior Classic and the 2009 HP Boys Championship at Carlton Woods have made him an early Rolex Junior Player of the Year
contender.

Andrew Yun (Chandler, Ariz.) • Class of 2009    Polo Golf Ranking: 6
Yun’s storied AJGA career includes 22 top-10 finishes and a win at the 2006 FootJoy Invitational (held at Forest Oaks Country Club). A four-time Rolex Junior All-American, Yun most recently finished T5 at the Thunderbird International Junior and will continue his golf career at Stanford this fall.

James Back (Cerritos, Calif.) • Class of 2010    Polo Golf Ranking: 7
Back claimed his second career AJGA crown this April at the Heather Farr Classic presented by Longbow Golf Club. Last season, Back recorded a T10 finish at the FootJoy Invitational en route to second-team Rolex Junior All-America honors.

Daniel Lee (Valencia, Calif.) • Class of 2011    Polo Golf Ranking: 11
An honorable mention Rolex Junior All-American in 2008, Lee rewrote the record books at the 2009 Thunderbird International Junior, setting new scoring records for 18-, 36- and 54-hole totals. His winning score of 18-under-par 198 tied the third-lowest 54-hole total in AJGA history, and broke the tournament scoring record by four shots.

Media Accommodations
The AJGA is prepared to make covering the FootJoy Invitational an enjoyable experience. Whether it be on-site professional communications staff or timely results, the AJGA is ready to honor all media requests. At the event, the AJGA will provide:

    • Information about the tournament and its participants leading up to the event
    • Assistance with player interviews before, during and after the tournament
    • A golf cart to make covering the tournament as easy as possible
    • Assistance locating players on the course
    • A recap with results after each tournament round in a timely manner

During the week of the tournament, the AJGA will have three communications representatives on hand to assist the media. These media officials will write an AP style recap and produce agate results each tournament day. These will then be faxed and/or e-mailed to all media outlets. Interviews with AJGA Tournament Directors, Tournament Chairmen and juniors can be conducted before/after every round.

The AJGA Web site, ajga.org, is a tremendous media resource. The tournament Web site, which is linked from the AJGA homepage, includes recaps, results, list of participants, tee times, live scoring, scorecards and sponsor information.
