RALEIGH – Seven different players had multi-hit games for Mayodan Dalton McMichael as the Fighting Phoenix blasted Morganton Patton 16-6 in five innings on Friday night in the opening game of the North Carolina High School Athletic Association state 2-A baseball championship series at Doak Field at North Carolina State University.
McMichael banged out 18 hits in the game, which was called after five innings due to the 10-run rule.

  1. Did Hughes pitch all 5? If he did he will have to rest today . Patton did not throw their ace and will today. This may be Patton’s strategy, to get rid of Hughes in game 1 and take games 2 and 3. I would have thrown Hughes in game 2.

  2. what kind of shenanigan’s did Patton pull to get this far in the playoffs ? 🙂

they have only been open 2 years? they do not deserve to be there because they have not put their “dues” in…(kidding of course)

  3. 1st game McMichael wins 16-6 in five innings
    2nd game McMichael wins 6-3

McMichael is the 2A state champs! Way to go guys!

  4. Congratulations to the McMichael team on the State 2A baseball title!!! You should be very proud!!!
