GRASSHOPPERS ADD BASS TO ALL-STAR LINEUP

GREENSBORO, NC – South Atlantic League President Eric Krupa announced updated rosters for the 50th annual SAL All-Star game, adding Grasshoppers’ outfielder Justin Bass to the Northern Division roster.

Bass has managed to become a quiet threat in the Grasshoppers’ lineup this season, hitting a league-best .378 with 8 home runs in May, while snagging Player of the Week honors for the final week of the month. Bass’s 11 total home runs are good for tops on the Grasshoppers’ club, and currently rank fourth in the SAL.

“He has just continued to work,” said Manager Darin Everson. “He refined what he already had to work himself into a very good all-around player.”

Bass will replace another good all-around player in former Kannapolis outfielder Tyler Kuhn. Kuhn’s promotion earned Bass the starting left field spot in the mid-summer classic, making him the third Grasshopper to appear in the 2009 starting lineup. The addition of the Bass gives the Grasshoppers their fifth All-Star representative, the second most of any Northern Division club.
