  1. Congratulations to the players that were selected for the two teams, I’m sure they deserve their selection. Best of luck to both teams as they prepare for the tournamnet. (By the way,I don’t agree with the Dick that it was about politics.)

I heard that a number of very good players opted not to play for the Colt All-stars because of conflicts with their showcase/travel team. That speaks volumes about the problem that the Colt league faces. In order to continue as a relevant, competitive league, they have to address the fact that a lot of the better players are choosing NOT to play Colt ball. If that trend continues, the league will grow weaker and weaker. This is no fault of Colt Baseball, it’s just a reflection of the changes that are taking place within the structure of youth sports in general.

By the way, whoever administers the Colt website deserves a pat on the back. A great job is done in keeping it up-to-date.

  2. Congratulations to the young men on the Colt All-Star teams. We are proud of you for choosing to represent the rich tradition of Greensboro Colt baseball in your community that goes back to the early ’60’s. Do your best and represent your community well with excellent skill and true sportsmanship. There are many in the community that came up through this program and understand what an honor it is to be chosen. All the best to each of you and know we are pulling for your teams. Go Greensboro Green and Gray!!!!!!!

  3. No. I think Garrett has one of them. Coached at SEG and Ragsdale. Don’t know about the other.

  4. Both the Gray and the Green looked sharp in practice today at Ragsdale. Coaches for both teams are excellent. They are giving the boys very good instruction. Some of the boys will be giving back to the community 7/16 at 10 am by helping fix up Memorial stadium a bit. Hope the community comes out 7/16 to Memorial stadium for the 6 pm (Gray) and 8 pm (Green) scrimmmage games against the boys from Rockingham. See you there for a relaxing evening watching the local boys play.

  5. You could hear them practicing over at Ragsdale while the 7 on 7’s football were going on. I too, had heard a while back that Coach Garrett was involved. Good young man, looking to move up.
