More troops marching into the Wyndham Championship field

Twelve Major Championship Winners Now in Wyndham Championship

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Tim Clark, Lee Janzen, Chris DiMarco, Corey Pavin, Steve Elkington, Todd Hamilton and Mark Calcavecchia have joined the Wyndham Championship field, it was announced today. The PGA TOUR event now boasts 12 major championship winners in the field.

These players join U.S. Open champion Lucas Glover, defending champion Carl Pettersson, 2007 champion Brandt Snedeker, Rocco Mediate, Boo Weekley, David Toms, David Duval, two-time Wyndham winner Davis Love III, John Daly, Bubba Watson and 1999 Wyndham winner Jesper Parnevik in the field.

Major championship winners in the field are Glover, 2009 U.S. Open; Love III, 1997 PGA Championship; Toms, 2001 PGA Championship; Duval, 2001 British Open; Daly, 1991 PGA Championship and 1995 British Open; Janzen, 1993 and 1998 U.S. Open; Pavin, 1995 U.S. Open; Elkington, 1995 PGA Championship; Calcavecchia, 1989 British Open; Hamilton, 1990 British Open; Mark Brooks, 1996 PGA Championship; Rich Beem, 2002 PGA Championship.

Clark is an NC State alumnus who has played the Wyndham Championship five times and won $389,726.66 placing him 36th on the all-time Wyndham Championship money-winners list. He tied for sixth place in 2006 and ’08 for his best finish here. He is currently 27th in the FedExCup point standings and 35th in the Official World Golf Rankings.

Janzen, a two-time U.S. Open winner, has made 12 appearances in the Piedmont Triad’s PGA TOUR event including each of the last four. His best finish here came in 1993 when he tied for sixth place. He is 81st in the current FedExCup point standings.

DiMarco will be making his seventh Wyndham Championship appearance. The University of Florida alumnus is 106th in the FedExCup point standings. DiMarco might be best known for his runner-up finishes in the 2005 Masters and the 2006 British Open.

Elkington won the 1995 PGA Championship and the Piedmont Triad’s PGA TOUR event in 1990. He has played here 17 times and his $481,867.54 in earnings places him 27th on the Wyndham Championship all-time money-winners list.

Calcavecchia is 98th in the current FedExCup point standings and has been a Wyndham Championship regular having played here 15 times. He has three top-five finishes including a runner-up performance in 2002. He is 10th on the Wyndham Championship all-time money-winners list with $760,545.86. Hamilton won the 1990 British Open, and he has three previous appearances in the Wyndham Championship.
