WYNDHAM CHAMPIONSHIP ANNOUNCES FOOD DRIVE BENEFITING SECOND HARVEST FOOD BANK

Contributors entered into Wyndham Vacation Raffle

GREENSBORO, N.C. – The Wyndham Championship is doing its part to assist Second Harvest Food Bank of Northwest North Carolina with its drastic food shortage by sponsoring a food drive during this week’s PGA TOUR event, it was announced today. Everyone who donates at least five cans of food will be entered into a raffle to win a seven-night vacation courtesy of Wyndham Vacation Ownership, a Wyndham Worldwide company.

Second Harvest food drive donation locations will be set up in the public, VIP and volunteer parking lots to accept canned goods before people board the busses for Sedgefield Country Club from 6 a.m. until 3 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 19 through Sunday, Aug. 23. Food donation boxes will also be located inside the Sedgefield clubhouse and in the volunteer tent for people who walk onto course property from the surrounding neighborhood.

Everyone who donates at least five cans of food will have the opportunity to enter the Wyndham Vacation raffle at the donation location. Four winners will receive Wyndham Championship merchandise, and one lucky grand prize winner will receive a seven-night vacation at any Club Wyndham location worldwide, subject to availability. The vacation certificate will be good for one year, and no transportation will be provided.

“This is what this golf tournament is all about; regionalism and charity,” tournament director Mark Brazil said. “It’s great opportunity for us to be thinking of others who are less fortunate than we are with a food drive, and in a sense, that’s why we do this. We appreciate Wyndham’s support of this project; it’s pretty amazing that the grand prize winner of the Wyndham raffle will receive a free week-long vacation.

“That’s very generous of Wyndham, and we hope thousands of people will take advantage of this opportunity so we can deliver for Second Harvest. If everyone that comes to the tournament brings just five cans of food, Wyndham Championship fans will have helped a lot of people.”

Second Harvest Food Bank serves 240 agencies in Alamance, Alexander, Alleghany, Ashe, Caldwell, Caswell, Davie, Davidson, Forsyth, Guilford, Iredell, Randolph, Rockingham, Stokes, Surry, Watauga, Wilkes and Yadkin Counties covering basically Boone to Burlington.

Donations should include canned meats such as chicken and tuna; canned vegetables and fruits; canned stews, soups, pork and beans; peanut butter and jelly in plastic jars only. No glass or perishable items can be accepted.
