Dannemiller claims top South Atlantic League honors

DANNEMILLER LANDS FEMALE EXECUTIVE OF YEAR AWARD

GREENSBORO, NC – The Greensboro Grasshoppers are proud to announce the selection of Vice President of Baseball Operations, Katie Dannemiller, as the 2009 Female Executive of the Year in the South Atlantic League.

Dannemiller, who recently wrapped up her 13th full season in baseball, garners the award for the second time in just four seasons with the Grasshoppers.

“I am honored to have received the award twice while representing such a top notch minor league franchise,” said Dannemiller. “I am fortunate to be surrounded by wonderful individuals, and could not have accomplished such a feat without them.”

But the Akron, Ohio native has more than established herself as a premier asset within a franchise. Prior to joining the Grasshoppers, Dannemiller worked in several capacities with the Cleveland Indians’ minor leagues, working her way to a major league position as the executive assistant to the general manager.

“Katie clearly deserves this award. Her most impressive attributes are her leadership and team-oriented attitude,” said President and General Manager Donald Moore. “She sets a wonderful example for the rest of our staff, and has been a tremendous asset to both myself and the organization as a whole.”

During her four seasons in Greensboro, the Grasshoppers have consistently ranked in the top 25 teams in Minor League Baseball for attendance. Additionally, the Hoppers have been the proud recipients of the South Atlantic League’s Club Merit Award all four seasons since her arrival, while snagging Minor League Baseball’s prestigious Bob Freitas Award during the 2008 season.

The Grasshoppers finished the 2009 season with an attendance of 406, 549 and have welcomed over 2,124, 043 fans to NewBridge Bank Park, drawing over 400,000 fans in each of its first five years at the new downtown ballpark. The team is the proud recipient of both the South Atlantic League’s Club Merit Award and the General Manager of the Year Award for the past four years.

Tickets and group packages are now on sale for the 2010 season. For more information, please contact the Grasshoppers office at 336.268.BALL or visit www.gsohoppers.com.
