Heavily recruited Greensboro Dudley safety David Amerson is visiting Notre Dame Saturday, according to Dudley coach Steve Davis.

“He’s looking forward to seeing what’s up there, and then I believe he’s visiting UNC the following weekend,” Davis said. “He’s going to N.C. State at some point, and I believe Wake Forest is also in the mix.

“I think those are his favorites.”

Amerson is one of the top players on our NC Top 25 Prospects list who has not yet committed, ranked at No.13.

He has good 6-foot-1, 180-pound size with 4.5 speed. And he has what coaches call “a nose for the ball.” Last season, he had nine interceptions and says his goal is ten this year.

  1. The Charlotte News and Observer blows the News and Record out of the water when it comes to covering our local guys..

  2. N&R just doesn’t have the staffing. They’re hanging on for dear life. Charloote has some people semi-dedicated to HS sports.

  3. I agree! The Greensboro News & Records does a horrible job of keeping abreats to the happening when it comes to local athletes and their accomplishments. They are terrible when presenting stats and updates of schools interested in their local athletes. How can they know who to choose for All Area Awards when they have no bases for their selections? You do not select a kid that has rushed for 500 yards for a season over a kid that has rushed for 1500 no matter what their record is or what school they attend. Nor do you place kids in basketball that averages 9 pts, 5 rebounds over kids that averages 15 pts, 5 rebs, 5 assts and their team advance to state playoffs. They need a check and balance system that requires coaches to present their game by game stats and then every week post them in the News & Records so that when its time to present the All Area First Team, Second Team, Third Team and Honorable Mention Teams, it will never be a question of politics.

  4. I think Tom keller does a pretty good job, but they need to get somebody to help him out. Theres way too many high school athletes out there that don’t get the attention they deserve.

  5. The N&R has told us many times if you want your game in the paper you need to call in the score with any stats you feel important. They just are not staffed to be at every game. In some situations the HP Enterprise uses free lance people and pays them a small fee for a story.
