The first QB in history to beat every NFL team: Brett Farve

You to give some credit where it is due, and Brett could still be Jet, but it’s a good bet, he let the Packers have his best shot yet, on Monday night…….

MINNEAPOLIS(AP) Brett Favre added another feat to his overflowing resume: He’s the first quarterback in history to beat all 32 NFL teams.

Well, he saved the best for last: The Green Bay Packers .

Favre’s first game against his former team was all fun for the Minnesota Vikings and all frustration for the Packers, as the graying quarterback kept his cool and connected for three touchdown passes and 271 yards in a 30-23 victory on Monday night.

”I don’t know how to explain it. I felt right, but I guess I never thought I’d be in that situation,” Favre said.

Favre went 24 for 31, without a turnover. He celebrated his first scoring toss with an awkward body bump with kicker Ryan Longwell , also a former Packers teammate, and showed plenty of emotion on this most emotional night. He stayed poised in the pocket all night, too, and avoided the risky throws that have defined his career almost as much as the success.

”I don’t think there was any question what he could do when he came back,” Packers cornerback Charles Woodson said. ”But you know, we didn’t do ourselves any justice.”

The Vikings (4-0) sacked Favre’s replacement, Aaron Rodgers , eight times. Jared Allen was credited with 4 1/2 of them, a career high, including a safety in the fourth quarter that stretched the lead to 16. Rodgers had his first two turnovers of the season, and Favre turned both of them into vintage touchdown passes in the first half.

”I definitely wanted to get this win for Brett,” teammate Adrian Peterson said. ”He downplayed it all week, but I just knew it meant a lot to him. I could see it in his eyes.”

  1. May this manipulative lying human being go away! He was the one that retired. Aaron Rodgers was waiting, and yet I believe you said to a certain reporter……….Oh yes Peter King of Sports Illustrated that it was about revenge, wow how quick we forget. He was the one that when Packer management said its time to try out HE said NO. He was the one that cried and cried and cried some more saying it was all he had. Yet we the Packer fans were the ones that loved him and excepted everything Brett Favre did. From his wife’s cancer to his father dying, and even his hometown being washed away. We supported a self absorbed man with donations to beat the band and yet he who makes more money than GOD, smiled and took it all in. Now we as Packer fans are supposed to “Move on” his words not mine. Good frigging riddance you complete disgrace! I hate you and everything you stand for. It was nice to see you smiling last night as you referred to every one on the Packers by first name except for the man that took your place. referring to him as the “quarterback” for that team was classy you frigging hillbilly. Thanks for the trophy because NO REAL Packer fan will EVER take you back! Go away Farve, you lied to us about your retirement and now I suspect you probably lied about the pronunciation of you last name.

  2. Wasn’t it great to see Brett Favre put on a quarterback clinic against his old team. The man is amazing. I am not a Minnesota fan but you have to give them credit for making the right decision with Favre. The Packer coach better start teaching his players how to stay in control of their emotions. mAYBE THEY CAN HIRE fAVRE AS A COACH WHEN HE REALLY RETIRES.

  3. Harsh and over the top Packer Fan.

The whole retirement… unretirement… jets…. vikes was not handled well by Favre or GB. HOWEVER, it is possible that the situation was worsened by the fact that neither party was completely wrong or completely right.

Yes, Favre had some time left in him but AR was/is young and pretty damn good. As good as favre in his time NO (few to none are or were) but as good as or better than favre now…. possible. GB had an aging asset near the end of his career and a good QB on the bench. Time to invest in the future. Favre was no wait wasnt … was… ready to retire. I think the fire put in him by GB added these years to his career and he would not have been as good had he remained. And he aint a back up kinda guy.

With AR’s talent and BF competitive spirit this whole ordeal may well have been unavoidable.

Jim Rome said GB has some problems but QG isnt one of em. I agree.

This whole episode many times comes with the territory…. Johnny Unitas, Joe Namath, Joe Montana, Brett Favre and the list will grow.

  4. Bret wanted to go to Minnesota years ago. He knew if they had a QB they could win the Super Bowl. New York was just a way to get out of Green Bay. The retirement talk was just away he could move.

  5. I just wanted to correct the statement your article made about Brett Favre only just beating all 32 NFL teams in October of 2009, with Minnesota. Brett Favre had already played against, and beaten, the Packers during week 14 on December 1, with the Atlanta Falcons. The score was Atlanta-35 and Green Bay-31. Just thought you might like to know that.

  6. Sorry. I forgot to mention that the year that Brett Favre beat the Green Bay Packers was 1991, while playing for the Atlanta Falcons.
