Side Notes:

– Most would argue that these were the 5 best team in the county this year, Northern Guilford right behind NW Guilford.

– Page and Greensboro Day won their respective state titles, and also tied 1-1 earlier in the year.

– 3 out of 5 of these teams finished their season losing to a Charlotte-Meck school. While, Page and Greensboro Day cleared multiple Charlotte team hurdles in the playoffs.

– This is the first time in history that two schools have won a state title in soccer in the same year.

4 thoughts on “Guilford County Soccer Recap

  1. Hard to believe Glen Long not All State and Tom Jackson not All Region. Lovejoy should get POY, if there is one.

  2. does anyone know how our soccer teams or kids generally rank or compare to other good teams nationally? i remember seeing a banner at GDS about their girls have a #1 ranked team nationally back in the 1990’s.

  3. Just curious why no goalkeepers are listed among the Region 7-4A list? What area/conferences is this region comprised of? Kind of shocked to not see Tom Jackson (Page) and Carter Smith (Grimsley) not listed…they were by far the top two goalies in the Metro and I’d think within the region as well. How are the players voted for all region?

  4. Players are selected by the coaches. Region 7 looks like the Metro and the Piedmont Triad 4A conferences.
