Ms. Richburg and Mr. Moss from Greensboro College are Rookies of the Week

Greensboro College student-athletes won both USA South basketball rookie of the week honors presented today by the conference. GC’s Chakiris Moss (Richmond Hill, GA/Richmond Hill High School) won the men’s honor and Bianca Richburg (Hillsborough/Orange High School) won the USAS women’s award.

Men’s Basketball Rookie of the Week
Chakiris Moss
(Richmond Hill, GA/Richmond Hill High School), Greensboro – The freshman guard from Richmond Hill, Georgia averaged 10.7 points, 5.0 rebounds and 2.7 assists per game in a 1-2 week for The Pride. In a loss to Guilford, Moss contributed nine points, seven rebounds, two assists and one steal. In an 80-72 loss to Virginia Wesleyan, Moss tallied ten points with five rebounds and four assists. Finally, in an 86-79 win over Maryland Bible, Moss scored 13 points, grabbed three rebounds and dished out two assists.

Women’s Basketball Rookie of the Week
Bianca Richburg (Hillsborough/Orange High School), Greensboro – The freshman forward from Mebane, North Carolina averaged a double-double of 17.7 points and 12.7 rebounds with 3.0 steals, 2.3 blocks and 1.6 assists per game in a 1-2 week for The Pride. In an 81-69 loss to Guilford, Richburg tallied a double-double of 22 points and a game-high 17 rebounds. She also added five steals, five blocks and three assists in the defeat. In a 77-51 loss to Randolph-Macon at the R-MC Tournament, Richburg again notched a double-double with a team-high 14 points and a game-high 12 rebounds. She also added two assists, a team-high two blocks and one steal. Finally, in a 61-59 win over Bridgewater, Richburg scored 17 points, grabbed nine rebounds and had three steals. For her efforts, Richburg was named to the All-Tournament team.
