Lynchburg, Va. — Adam Powell (Stuart, FL/Jensen Beach High) scored a career high 25 points as Greensboro College won at Randolph College, 70-62, in overtime on Monday night. Powell was 10-17 from the field and made 3 three-pointers. Both teams are now 8-8.

RJ Smith (Charleston, SC/Porter Gaud School) and Walter Brady (St. Petersburg, Fla./Gibbs) both tallied 12 for The Pride. Brady had 8 rebounds and Smith dished 6 assists, both game highs.

GC dominated the overtime (15-7). Powell opened the OT with a 4-point play. The visitors led by as many as 10 points in the extra period.

“Adam played a great all-around games and he hit a big shot to start the OT,” said Pride Head Coach Bryan Galuski. “Our upperclassmen, Brady, Smith and Lewis Owenby (Black Mountain, NC/Owen) stood tall when it counted. It wasn’t the prettiest game, but I’m proud of the effort.”

At the end of regulation, Powell missed a short jumper. Andre Porter (Hope Mills, NC/Southview) then had a tip-in chance that rimmed out and the score was 55-55 as time expired.

Derrick Woods-Morrow led three Wildcats in double figures with 16 points. RC out-rebounded GC 44-34. Randolph, however, was felled by poor free-throw shooting (10-27). Greensboro was 9-14 from the charity stripe.

The Pride led at halftime 29-22. In its next action, GC plays at Shenandoah on Saturday and then travels to CNU on Sunday.
