John Primm Gym ceremonies and what about the Bill Slayton Stadium at SEG?

Great turn out at Northeast Guilford last evening as they honored former teacher, coach and Athletic Director John Primm, by naming the gym after him…..

Many, many, supporters on hand to honor John Primm and his former students, players, fellow-educators, family and friends all came out to show their appreciation and respect to a man that helped make the NEG community what it is today.

David Jackson was in there from Appalachian State University and he told of how John Primm helped him get his start in sports journalism.(Jackson is now the radio voice for ASU athletics.)

David is a very profound speaker and he had many stories of athletics and education from his days as a student/athlete at Northeast Guilford High School. John Primm gave Daivd his start as the PA man for NEG football/basketball and David became a very big asset to the sports information that came out of the Rams’ athletic department. He became John Primm’s right-hand man in many ways and now as the sports world turns, David is the assistant Athletic Director at Appalachian State Univesity and he said he owes it all to a man named John Primm….

Guilford County Board of Education chairman Alan Duncan was there and he had a few words to add to the festivities and there was former NEG boys basketball coach Ron Williams and he spoke of John Primm and what he meant to the Northeast community. John Primm put in a suggestion last night, that they name the basketball court in the John Primm Gym, the “Ron Williams Court”.

John defered much of his success to his students and athletes that he taught and coached at NEG, during his 37-year tenure at the school.

John Primm gave the ultimate credit to his Lord and savior Jesus Christ and he said that directly to the crowd in attendance…..

John had many of his church members in the audience with folks coming in from Eller Memorial Baptist Church and from the Friendly Avenue Baptist Church. He said those fine people had always been there for him over the years and he personally thanked them for that.

In a way John Primm sort of summed things up with the thought of, what happens in present times or in the future or from the past; only what’s done for Christ will last and John Primm has left a positive lasting impression on the Northeast Guilford Community……

How about down at Southeast Guilford?????

The word is that they named the football stadium for coach Bill Slayton years ago and then they took the naming rights away. What’s up with that? I keep hearing reports that the stadium was named, “Bill Slayton Stadium” many years ago and they just up and quit calling it that.

What is the real word down at Southeast Guilford on the “Bill Slayton Stadium”, named for the Falcons long-time football coach?????

Does the SEG football stadium have a name or did they just take it away and now it remains nameless?????

Bill Slayton Stadium still has a nice ring to it………………..
