Eastern Guilford girls get it going with BIG win Wednesday over Overhills

Eastern Guilford advanced to the Sectional Championship game by defeating Overhills
(21-5) 68-54. The game was close at the half 28-24 as both teams played hard.
Eastern got its offense going by having superb defense in the third quarter
by shutting down the high power offense of Overhills 16-6 to increase their lead by
14 points. Both teams scored 24 points each but the deficit was too great to
overcome. Eastern had four players to score in double figures and had a season high
of 56 rebounds. Eastern was led by Miranda Jenkins and Kristin Crosby 15 points each
and got double- double performances from Amerijah Jamison 12 pts and 14 rebounds and
Capricia Small 12 pts and 11 assists. Sophomore Karima Jackson came off the bench
to contribute 9 points. Eastern improved its record to 24-3 and 13-0 in conference
play. Eastern Guilford will play Union Pines on Friday at Eastern Guilford at 7 pm.
