9 thoughts on “NCHSAA 3-A East Regional Final as Northeast Guilford tops South Central 83-82 in OT

  1. The Rams are in the 3A Final 4 for the 2nd time on Coach Hunter’s watch. Great job guys!7 of the 10 players will return for next year as well.

  2. Who would have thought in january that NE would advance farther in the state tourney than any other team in the area!! Congrats to the Rams. Best of luck on Saturday.

  3. I certainly think you have to put Curtis Hunter in the mix for coach of the year in the county, area, etc. no matter what the outcome of tomorrow night’s game is. I know that Andy favors coach Freeman from Northern, but his job was eaasy because he had players and a system there and success was a given from the last two years performance of that team—plus Frye is an excellent nucleus and starting point for a team that was not in as much disarray as some people tried to make everyone believe.
    Curtis Hunter fo COY!!!!!!!

  4. curtis hunter deserves more than just cursory consideration for COY at all levels.

  5. If Northeast wins 2 more times, will the News-Record give them the recognition they deserve?I am not counting on it. We are not Dudley, Northern, Northwest, Page or Grimsley.

Hunter is most assuredly Coach of the Year as far as doing more with a less experienced team.

  6. Congrats NEG Rams and Coach Hunter. This is a true example of hard work and focus. Their record may not indicate they should be in the Regional Finals but their dedication, drive and determination speaks for itself. Good Luck Saturday and represent GC well!

  7. I’m a Dudley supporter, but I’m pulling for Coach Hunter and his team to make it all the way. That was a great victory for them over the #1 rated 3a team in the state, South Central was 27-1 and playing a few miles from their school.

    Great Win !!!
