HS Baseball Today with SEG 8-5 over the Grimsley Whirlies

HS Baseball Final:
Southeast Guilford 8
Grimsley 5
….
*****SEG is now (2-0) in the Metro 4-A Conference and the Falcons have grabbed the early lead in the Metro as of March 13(SEG 3-1 overall)…Grimsley falls to (2-3) overall and (0-2) in the Metro….
Josh Tobias had a solo HR for the SEG Falcons and Adam Kirkpatrick had a key RBI early in the game when SEG went up 5-0 on the Whirlies…Grimsley battled back behind a two-run single from Whirlie catcher Sawyer Highfill and the home team tied the game up at 5-5 after 5 innings…..As it sounds it was, SEG could never really put Grimsley away and the Whirlies got a solid outing from starting pitcher DJ Reader…

Southeast got steady and solid pitching from their man who opened the game, Dylan Shutt, and Ty Powell came on the 6th and 7th innings to shut down the Whirlies and this allowed the Falcons to finish with the victory….

There were more numbers that we all can share and if have some send there our way….

+++++NWG at SWG was scheduled today for 3pm, but the game was PPD again to a later date, because of rain on that side of the county.+++++

  1. I wonder what the outcome would have been with Ashkinazy at the helm, guess we’ll never know. Good game from both side though.

  2. Coach A is well thought of in the baseball community and I still have loads of people asking about him and talking about his influence around the Triad area over the years.

He is doing a great job helping Coach Barrow over at GTCC….

Grimsley got hit hard by pre-season injuries that nearly wiped out the Whirlies’ pitching staff, Stoneman and Tucker in particular are gone and it will be big boost when they finally get those guys back.

Eric Stevens stepped up big last Wednesday on the hill versus Eastern Guilford, Mike Elam is working hard to get his game where it needs to be and DJ Reader is working hard to get that ball where it needs to be and it will come around in time, but for Grimsley there will be no easy outs with teams like Dudley and Western Guilford coming up real soon.

Coach Simmons is doing a good job. Like anything else in life, it takes time and reps…..

  3. We will work to take the high road on this topic and do our best to keep it all in the family and the current family as much as possible and that is pretty much the way it has to be….

  4. They did not play Saturday because of rain. NWG at SWG today(Monday) and the High Point Enterprise said in Sunday’s edition that the game would start at 6pm…

You may want to double-check on the start time….
