Busta Brown is out as a talk-show host at WQMG 97.1 FM, and A.C. Stone has returned to take his place.

Stone worked at WQMG from 1997 to 2005 before moving to a station in Charlotte. His new show airs on WQMG from 2 to 7 p.m. weekdays and 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturdays.

Brown’s last day on the station was March 18.

“We’ve met with Busta and decided to go a different direction,” said Brian Douglas, the operations manager at Entercom Greensboro, the station group that includes WQMG. “Busta’s an extremely talented guy…. It’s likely he’ll be announcing some new plans soon, and we wish him absolutely the best.”

Brown, who lives in Greensboro, said that his contract was up for renewal and cited “creative differences” for the departure, but said he had no ill will toward the station.

“I’m fantastic,” Brown said. “There are some things I’m looking forward to doing.” In April, he plans to start an Internet radio show. In May, he will start as host of a new season of a midnight-basketball program in Greensboro. And in June, he said he plans to start pitching a TV version of his radio show, a mix of advice and entertainment.

People can keep up with his plans or contact him on Facebook by searching for Manard Busta Brown, or by e-mailing him at bustabrown97@yahoo.com.

He said he regrets that he didn’t get a chance to say goodbye to his audience, but added, “I guess that’s a good thing I didn’t say goodbye, because I’m not going anywhere.”

  1. I will miss listening to Buster Brown too. He had my attention. Very talented guy and smells good too, I met him in person once when he was out in the community promoting wqmg radio and passing out cd’s, He smiled and greeted me like I wasn’t a stranger at all.

  2. I really did not like all of the talking and games he played. We would turn the radio off at work once he came on. Everybody hated the games. He did not seem to be grounded. he would be all over the place. I like it better with AC.
