Greensboro College to the NCAA DIII Golf Championships

Greensboro College has been invited to the NCAA Division III Golf Championships. The event begins Tuesday in Hershey, Pa.

Greensboro College will be making its 28th trip to the Division III golf championships, but its first since 2005. The Pride won the 2000 national title, GC’s first and only team national championship.

The Pride received one of three pool C (at large) bids to the tournament. Guilford and Oglethorpe earned the other invitations from pool C.

Led by first-year Head Coach Dirk Fennie The Pride won two tournaments this Spring: Pine Needles and Emory. GC carries a 300.7 stroke average and is the only team to defeat top-ranked Methodist this year.

Individually, junior Brock Elder (Greensboro, NC/Vandalia Christian) and sophomore Ben Nihart (Winston-Salem, NC/(home school)) have led The Pride. Elder has a 74.1 stroke average and Nihart is close behind with a 74.7.

The championships will be held May 11-14, at the Hershey Links and Hershey Country Club, in Hershey, Pennsylvania. The championships will be hosted by Elizabethtown College.
