Dynamo Wrap Up Season at Home this Saturday Night
The Carolina Dynamo are back at home for the 2010 season final match this
Saturday Night (July 24th) vs. the Bermuda Hogges. Saturday is the 1st
time Bermuda ever has visited the Gate City and will double as team photo
night. All fans in attendance will receive a 2010 Carolina Dynamo Team
photo courtesy of Parks Chevrolet, Adidas and Systel Printing. The Dynamo
were on the road this past week for three matches in 5 days and finished
the trip with a 1-1-1 record to remain in third place of the Mid-Atlantic
Conference. This past week the Dynamo tied Hampton Roads 0-0 Wednesday
night, before making a trip to New Jersey for two matches. On Saturday
night the Dynamo dropped a tough match to Ocean City 2-1 giving up a goal
in the 86th minute. The Dynamo then turned around and beat Central Jersey
3-0 Sunday afternoon before traveling home.
The Carolina Dynamo is one of the oldest and most storied clubs in US
soccer, having won 4 National Championships, multiple Conference
Championships, and 8 Division Titles. Founded in 1993, the Dynamo is
three years older than Major League Soccer. The Dynamo is a team of elite
college players with professional aspirations. They compete for the
Dynamo during the summer, and then return to colleges to finish their
eligibility. Many of our players are drafted by MLS clubs and can been
seen playing ABC & ESPN the following summer. Beginning with Major League
Soccer’s 1996 inaugural year, 49 Dynamo players have been drafted by MLS
teams — 32 since the Dynamo joined the Premier Development League in
2004.
The Carolina Dynamo also has a global reach. There are 44 Dynamo players
currently playing professional soccer in 13 different countries. Since
Dynamo’s inception, 17 players have represented 7 different countries in
International and World Cup play — 7 of these Dynamo alumni have played
for the United States.
As a soccer community, we are very fortunate to have some of the top
athletes in the nation play their college soccer here in North Carolina
and compete for the Dynamo. The Dynamo has, and will continue to attract
the best players in the country to play for us, hone their skills and
compete for another National Championship. Come support these players as
they strive to become the “Stars of Tomorrow”. The Dynamo is the best,
most affordable family entertainment in the entire Triad — World Class
Soccer at your backdoor.
