Greetings to all East Carolina University Pirate fans!
It is the best time of the year…football season is around the corner. I am sure
many of you are as excited as I about the upcoming season.
There have been a lot of changes that I am eager to see come September. But, before
we hit the field/stadium, I would like to thank you for your support in ECU
athletics with your Pirate Club donation. Every dollar counts no matter the amount.
If you have not pledged to the ECU Pirate Club for 2010 I encourage you to do so
soon. Our chapter goal this year is to have 235 local members, an 11% increase from
last year (212). If you have any questions, please feel free to contact any
representative or myself.
We have an exciting kickoff party planned for Sat. August 28th. Fellow Pirate Jerry
C. has offered his home for this grand event. Meet all of the local
representatives, other local Pirate fans as well as Pirate Club staff member. There
will be food, drinks and fun. We will be raffling off two tickets to each of the
first home football games. You must be present to purchase tickets! So bring your
favorite ECU Pirate fan and join us. Please RSVP with an approximate number of
people so we may have some idea of how many to expect. We want everyone to have
some Purple Pirate fun!
Currently, the Triad Counties Pirate Club representatives meet on the 2nd Monday of
the month to discuss business and upcoming events. As always, anyone may join us.
We would appreciate any ideas, comments or help from other Pirates. Buffalo Wings
n’ Rings is our meeting location as well as our official location for our viewing
parties. This year we will be having pre-game festivities. Please check out this
website for more information. During each away game viewing, we will have various
raffle items. This year there will be a raffle for 2 game tickets to each of the
home games.
I hope everyone is aware of our endowment we established last year in memory of Ron
Pugh. Therefore, all the money we raise at our events (viewing parties, golf
tournament, etc.) will go this endowment. We appreciate everyone’s contribution
during these events. If you would like to give money directly to the Ron Pugh
endowment fund you may contact Matt Maloney, Assistant Athletic Director/Major
Gifts, at maloneyj@ecu.edu or 252-737-4538. We hope you all will help us with this
endeavor.
As always, if you ever have any questions or would like to give us any feedback,
please contact any of the chapter representatives or myself.
