Greensboro, N.C. — The 2010 Greensboro Volleyball Tournament concluded Saturday at Hanes Gym. See the full schedule, and scores below.
• Piedmont defeated Guilford 3-1 (27-25, 25-23, 21-25, 25-15). Heather Stafford led Piedmont (6-3) with 15 kills. Piedmont’s Katherine Knarr recorded 31 assists in the match. Guilford College’s Brittany Freeman had 11 kills for the Quakers. Guilford is now on
• Randolph-Macon defeated Greensboro 3-1 (25-18, 18-25, 25-23, 25-14). Jessica Sears had 15 kills for R-MC. Greensboro’s Sha McDuffie (Winston-Salem, NC/Parkland) killed 15 balls for The Pride. Danielle Simpson (Mayodan, NC/McMichael) dug 23 balls for GC.
• Piedmont defeated Peace 3-0 (25-17, 25-18, 28-26). Piedmont’s Jennifer Granlund recorded 33 digs in the victory. Piedmont (5-3) was led by Heather Stafford, and Erin Krause with 9 kills a piece. Peace College’s Amber Lowe, and Alexandra Parker each recorded 7 kills for the Pacers.
• Randolph Macon defeated Guilford 3-0 (25-15, 25-20, 25-20). Mallory Carter led the way for the Yellow Jackets with 13 kills. The Quakers(6-4) were led by Taylor Phillips who passed for a team high 16 assists. With the win, the Yellow Jackets will win the Greensboro College Volleyball Tournament.
• Greensboro defeated Peace (25-20, 25-20, 25-14). \Brittany Hunsucker (Jamestown, NC/Ragsdale) led Greensboro College (7-3) with 13 kills and freshman Dana Sanknop# passed for a match high 34 assists. The Pacers (0-4) were led by Taylor Johnson with 10 kills. Sha McDuffie (Winston-Salem, NC/Parkland) was named to the all tournament team.
Note: Randolph Macon, which did not lose, was the tournament champion.
