Guilford College grabs third straight soccer win, at Greensboro College on Wednesday

AXTON, Va. – Senior Jordan Alexander scored a goal for the third straight
match in Guilford College’s third straight win Sunday, a 3-1 triumph over
LaGrange College. The Quakers (3-2) finished play at the Averett Cougar
Classic at the Smth River Complex with a 2-0 record.

Greg Carnovale got the Quakers on the board in the sixth minute off a Gomez
assist. Six minutes later, Gomez fed teammate Ronnie Castellanos for his
first goal of the season and a 2-0 Guilford lead.

LaGrange got on the board in the 33rd minute on Cameron Williams’ unassisted
goal.

Alexander netted his team-leading fourth goal of 2010 in the 64th minute to
provide the game’s final margin. All of Alexander’s team-leading 10 points
(4 goals, 2 assists) have come in the last three Guilford contests, all
wins.

The Quakers enjoyed a 24-7 edge in shots and got three saves in goal from
Peter Truitt. Donnie Palmer made nine saves in goal for LaGrange (1-2).
