*GREENSBORO, N.C. (9/22/10) –* The Quakers’ dropped a tough Old Dominion
Athletic Conference match to visiting Roanoke College Wednesday night,
28-30, 19-25, 18-25. In a hard fought first set, Guilford and Roanoke saw
six lead changes and 13 tie scores. The two squads battled for every point
throughout all three sets of the uptempo match.
The Quakers (7-6, 1-2 ODAC) were lead by *Traci Teague*’s nine kills on .412
hitting percentage. The rookie setter, *Taylor Whitley*, contributed 24
assists along side *Mary Moody*’s game-high 22 digs to help keep Guilford in
the match. *Brittany Freeman* also added nine kills.
The duo of *Maggie Wagner *and *Kelsey Largen* seemed to be too much for
Guilford, as they paced the way for Roanoke (9-3, 2-1 ODAC) with 14 and 15
kills, respectively. *Largen* had a big night as she also contributed 15
digs in the win. The Maroons’ got some extra help from *Emily Martin*’s 16
digs and *Shannon Stone*’s game-high 39 assists to help Roanoke claim their
second ODAC victory.
Guilford will look to avenge their loss when they hit the road Friday
(9/24) to travel to Salem College and take on the Royals in a non conference
match at 6:00 p.m.

Greensboro, N.C. — Brittany Hunsucker (Jamestown, NC/Ragsdale) had a match-high 14 kills as Greensboro College defeated Peace 3-0 (25-23, 25-11, 25-18) on Wednesday night at Hanes Gym. GC improved to 12-4, and 5-1 in USA South matches.
Fellow senior Karen Riffanacht (Cheshire, CT/Cheshire) added 12 kills for The Pride.
Freshmen Dana Sandknop (Summerfield, NC/Northwest Guilford) and Danielle Simpson (Mayodan, NC/McMichael) had strong games. Sandknop passed 39 assists, and Simpson recorded 15 digs.
Taylor Johnson spiked 10 kills for Peace (3-6, 2-2).
GC hosts a USA South tri-match with Shenandoah and Meredith visiting on Saturday.
