Guilford golf going higher and higher….

*Greensboro**, N.C. –* Guilford College’s men’s golf team is ranked
prominently in two NCAA Division III ratings after its first tournament of
the season. The Quakers own the top spot in the Sept. 29 edition of the
Golfstat.com Head-to-Head Rankings and are ranked seventh in the second NCAA
Division III *Golf World*/Nike Golf Coaches’ Poll, which appears in the Oct.
4 issue of *Golf World* and can be seen on line at
http://www.golfdigest.com/magazine/blogs/campusinsider.

**Guilford opened the 2010-11 campaign Sept. 24-26 with a
fifth-place finish at the Sea Trail Intercollegiate in Sunset Beach, N.C.
The Quakers were the lone non-NCAA Division I team in the 12-school field.
Guilford junior *Mat Hennick (Kenmore, Wash./Inglemoor (Skagit Valley
College))* placed sixth among 69 students with a three-under 213. His
performance earned Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) and Guilford
Student-Athlete of the Week honors. Sophomore teammate *Noah Ratner
(Asheville, N.C./Asheville)* shot 214, good for a share of 12th place.

*Hennick* leads the Quakers with a 71.0 stroke average through
three rounds. *Ratner* stands second at 71.3, followed by junior *Dusty
Roberts (Reidsville, N.C./Rockingham County)* at 73.3 strokes per round. *
Hennick* and *Ratner* lead the ODAC in stroke average through action of
Sept. 26, while Roberts stands fifth.

First-year head coach *Corey Maggard’s* squad returns to action
Oct. 3-4 at the Ted Keller Memorial at Hunting Hawk G.C. in Glen Allen, Va.
The Quakers host the Greensboro-Gordin Classic Invitational Oct. 10-11 and
the NCAA Division III Championships May 10-13. Both events will be held at
the Grandover Resort and Conference Center in Greensboro .
