Fayetteville, N.C. — Freshman Sarah Lang (Greensboro, NC/Page) had one goal, and one assist, as Greensboro College wins 3-0, at Methodist University, (11-6-1, 3-4-1).
The Pride is now 11-5-1, and 5-3-1 in USAS play. GC hosts Shenandoah in a USA South tournament match on Tuesday at 2:30 p.m.
“This was our best performance of the year,” GC Head Coach Ian Spooner said . “It’s tough to win on the road…I’m very proud of the team for a great effort,” Spooner added.
Meredith Kelly (Snow Camp, NC/Southern Alamance) tallied first for The Pride in the 36th minute, when she knocked home a rebound off a Lang shot. The score remained 1-0 at the break.
Jessica Jameson (Columbus, OH/Davidson) then assisted Lang in the 58th minute. In the 70th minute, two seniors connected when Kelli Viana (Valley Stream, NY/Valley Stream South) headed in a corner kick from Michelle Reger (Mahopac, N.Y./Mahopac).
Katie Allegro (Statesville, NC/West Iredell ) notched her eighth shutout of the year making 5 saves. GC outshot Methodist 18-10. Both teams had 4 corner kicks.
