Pride pounds Piedmont as Daren Dexter hits for 19 and Luqman Tijani(Page HS) chips in 16…

Demorest, Ga. — Daren Dexter (Sarasota, FL/Riverview) had a game-high 19 points as Greensboro College won at Piedmont College, 88-67, on Wednesday night. Luqman Tijani (Greensboro, NC/Page ) and T.J. Holman (Raleigh, NC/Wake Forest Rolesville) added 16 points for GC (3-3).

Dexter was 8-14 from the field and Holman was a perfect 6-6, which included two from behind the arc.

The Pride shot a season-best 58-percent (36-62) in the contest. GC committed just 14 and forced 23 PC turnovers. The green and white turned those Lion miscues into 30 points.

“We played great tonight,” said GC Head Coach Bryan Galuski. “They played a 2-3 zone much of the game and we were able to beat it.”

The visitors led 46-34 at the break. A free throw by Damian Dixon (Tampa, FL/Wharton) with 11:26 left gave The Pride its biggest lead at 69-42.

Alex Moore (Raleigh, NC, Millbrook)came off the bench to added a season-best 10 points for Greensboro. He was 4-5 from the field and grabbed a team-high 10 boards.

Josh Haymore tallied 13 points for Piedmont (3-2).

GC has its home opener on Sunday. The Pride hosts LaGrange at 2 p.m. at Hanes Gym.
