Guilford women top Emory and Henry College 71-62…

EMORY, Va. – Gabby Oglesby (Winston-Salem, N.C./Mount Tabor) notched her
second double-double in as many games to lead visiting Guilford College past
Emory & Henry College, 71-62, in Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC)
basketball action Tuesday.

Oglesby paced the Quakers (9-6, 5-4 ODAC) with 16 points and grabbed a
game-high 12 rebounds in her third start of the season. She also blocked a
shot, which ties her with Jennie Keichline ’04 for first place in school
history with 37 rejections this year.

Guilford used a 20-3 run in the first half to open a 33-11 advantage before
the Wasps (1-11, 0-8 ODAC) pulled to within 35-22 at halftime. Quakers’
senior Lauren LeFevers (Claremont, N.C./Bunker Hill) led the way with two
three-pointers and all eight of her points in the opening half.

The Quakers’ lead grew to 17 in the second half, but Emory & Henry again
rallied and made it a 50-44 game with 8:26 remaining on a Jalan McPherson
basket. Guilford’s Kayla Adams (Rural Hall, N.C./North Forsyth) answered
with a three-pointer and the Wasps never drew closer than eight points the
rest of the way.

Adams and Jazlyn Gibbs (Greensboro, N.C./Southeast Guilford (USC-Aiken))
both finished with 12 points for the Quakers, who owned a 53-34 rebounding
edge. Guilford had 21 offensive boards, which led to a 19-5 edge in
second-chance points. LeFevers corralled eight rebounds and Gibbs added
seven caroms.

McPherson’s 20 points led all scorers. Ashlyn Baird (16 points) and
Christina Howard (12 points) both scored in double figures off the bench.

Guilford visits league-rival Lynchburg College Saturday (1/22) at 4:00 p.m.
