It was a matchup of the top two seeds in the Piedmont Triad 4A conference in
Kernersville NC tonight. The visiting Cowboys came into the game undefeated in the
conference, while the hosting Bobcats have only 2 losses in the conference and
undefeated at home on the season. Something was going to give. It opened up with the
hosts starting strong jumping up 4-0. The Cowboys have been used to starting off
behind. But this game the Cowboys didn’t wait any longer to start playing. The game
went blow blow as the first frame ended with the hosts up 18-17. The Bobcats came
out strong on a 5-0 spurt to push it out to there biggest lead of 23-17. But the
home squads lead turned out to be ephemeral as the visitors began running and
gunning outscoring the hosts 29-7 to end the half, (including runs of 11-0 and 10-1)
with the score 46-30. In the third quarter the Cowboys used more of te same to lush
the lead to as many as 23 to start off. But the Bobcats showed why they had been
undefeated at home by coming back strong to make it only 64-53 at the end of the
quarter. Then the fourth began with another 7-0 run by the Cowboys to push the game
back out. The teams traded some baskets, but then it happened. An absolute beauty of
an alley-oop from Southwest’s Deandre Brown to Andrew Bostic who flushed it down
with authority which broke the game into a frenzy as the final tally was pushed all
the way to 97-63. Glenn was lead by Tyler Lee and Chris Simmons with 18 and 13
points respectively. The Cowboys used the three headed attack of Andrew Bostic,
Terrell Leach, and Jordan Hanner with 22, 17, and 17 apiece. The Cowboys remain in
1st place and undefeated in conference play at 15-4 and 8-0.
