Dynamic Duo of Duncan and Wilborn lead Greensboro College women to record-breaking win: Pride now (22-0)

Greensboro, N.C. — Danielle Duncan (Greensboro, NC/Ragsdale) and Nikki Wilborn (Graham NC/Graham) led Greensboro College to a 75-47 win over NC Wesleyan on Wednesday night. Wilborn had a triple-double (16 points, 12 rebounds, 10 steals) and Duncan had game-highs of 25 points and 13 rebounds for The Pride (22-0, 15-0).

With the win, GC set a new program record with 22 straight wins. The women surpassed the 2008-09 team that had 21 consecutive victories. Additionally, The Pride tied the NCAA Division III record for win improvement (14). The club matched the 2007 Lebanon Valley team with 14 more wins than its previous year. GC had eight victories last year.

Duncan was 7-15 from the field and made 11-13 free throws. She needs just one more free throw to break her Pride single season record of 169. Wilborn made three 3-pointers and 5-6 free throws. She had six assists, which left her four short of a quadruple-double.

Led by Wilborn, Greensboro had 24 steals and forced 32 Bishop turnovers. The Pride had 15 miscues. GC made 26-23 free throws to 16-33 for the visitors.

Freshman Chevena Pickard (Greensboro, NC/Page) added 11 points for The Pride.

The home team led 45-23 at the break. The Pride held the Bishops without a field goal for 10:20. The NCWC dry spell covered the last 8:36 of the first half and the beginning 1:44 of the final period.

Samantha Urqhart paced NC Wesleyan (4-17, 2-13) with 15 points.

GC hosts Peace College on Sunday at 2 p.m. It’s senior day and Nikki Wilborn (Graham NC/Graham) will be recognized prior to the game.
