W&L sweeps GC on Sunday at WMS

Greensboro, N.C. — Greensboro College dropped a doubleheader to Washington & Lee on Sunday at War Memorial Stadium. The Generals took game one 12-2 and the nightcap 7-0.

In the opener, GC took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning before the visitors scored the next nine runs. Starter Tyler Beeby (Sacramento/Center) took the loss, but pitched well before leaving as a precautionary measure due to an injury. He allowed three runs in 3 1/3 innings. Greensboro pitchers allowed 13 walks in the contest. Bobby Amato (Cooper City, FL/Pembroke Pines ) went 2-3 and scored a run for The Pride.

In game two, Michael Cobb (Union, NC/Union County High School) collected two hits for The Pride. Murray Smith (Williston, SC/Williston-Elko High School) started and got the loss for the home team. W&L out-hit Greensboro 7-6. Pitcher David Schilling (Morrisville, PA/Pennsburg High School) hurled a perfect sixth inning in relief for the green and white.

GC dropped to 0-4 and W&L is 2-0.

The Pride hosts Hampden-Sydney on Tuesday.
