Dudley at Ragsdale baseball today: Mother Nature wins/takes this one…

Courtesy of Mike Ellis at the Jamestown News:

They tried to play ball in Jamestown this evening. Moved the start time up
to 4:30, but Mother Nature got in the way and caused a stoppage in the
bottom of the third.

Mitch Carstens was on the hill for the Tigers and A. Tilley got the start
for the Panthers. Dudley got on the board in the first inning after
Carstens got the first two batters. Centerfielder Corey Kimber took the
first pitch he saw and drilled it deep over the left field fence for a HR to
give Dudley the 1 – 0 lead.

That lead would hold up until the third when Ragsdale would take advantage
of an error by the left fielder on a Grant Desjardins fly ball. Desjardins
stole second, went to third on a ground out and scored the tying run on a
Zach Hodges single. Hodges stole second and went took third when the throw
from the catcher went into centerfield and Kyle Morrison walked. With
runners on first and third and one out, the umpires called the game. It had
been raining since the top of the third and the field was becoming
unplayable. It was a good call by the umps to get the players off the
field.

Tilley pitched 2 and 1/3 innings, giving up one unearned run on two hits and
four walks. Kimber had the RBI and Corey Williamson and Tilley had the
other two hits for Dudley.

Carstens pitched three innings for Ragsdale, giving 3 hits, one earned run
on the Kimber homer, struck out three and issued no walks. Hodges had the
RBI on his hit and Desjardins collected the other Ragsdale hit.

No date has been set for the completion of the game.
