Men’s Lacrosse Final – Guilford 9, Greensboro 8 (OT)

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Taylor Teodosio scored 56 seconds into overtime to give Guilford College a 9-8 men’s lacrosse win over Greensboro College Wednesday night at Macpherson Stadium.

The victory ended the Pride’s five-game winning streak in the season series and marked Guilford’s ninth win of the season, its most since 1992. It also guarantees the Quakers’ (9-5) first winning campaign since the same year.

Scott Showalter’s goal with 7:59 left in regulation gave Greensboro (4-9) an 8-6 lead, but the Quakers rallied with two late tallies to force extra time. Guilford’s Chase Clausen scored his third goal of the game with 3:17 remaining to pull the Quakers within one and Nick Mann tied the contest just over two minutes later with an unassisted goal at the 1:13 mark.

Greensboro’s Skip Jakupi won the ensuing face-off, his 15th of the game, and the Pride had two more shots before the end of regulation. Guilford goalie Mark Guillen stopped Crawford Prezioso with three seconds left for his 11th save of the game.

The Quakers’ Sam Newland won overtime’s opening face-off, which gave Guilford possession. Clausen set up Teodosio with the game-winner, Guilford’s second in extra time this year.

Clausen led all scorers with five points on three goals and two assists. Greg Nash chipped in with four points on two goals and two assists.

Greensboro’s Showalter scored a team-high three goals. Mitchell Kanowicz had 10 stops in goal and Jakupi scooped up a game-high 11 ground balls.

Guilford hosts Lynchburg College Saturday (4/16) at 1:00 p.m. in an Old Dominion Athletic Conference game.
