Best-selling author John Feinstein is saying that no coach that knew Maryland’s Gary Williams, would have taken the N.C. State men’s basketball coaching job, because they would have known of the strained relationship between Williams and N.C. State Athletic Director Debbie Yow….
No coach is bigger than his AD, but Williams seemed to have a lot of influence with the college basketball coaching fraternity…..Did Williams doom the N.C. State coaching search? N.C. State finally found themselves a coach and he has brought on board a decent staff, including Bobby Lutz from Charlotte, so Mark Gottfried might have been the man that they(The Wolfpack) needed all along….
One thing is for certain, you won’t see Debbie Yow and Gary Williams on the same staff again any time soon, unless they join forces to resurrect the old Allen Jay High School and bring back the Jaybirds……
