HIGH POINT — Taylor Bergsma, Logan Gunn and Justin Morrison have been big reasons why the High Point Christian baseball team has been successful in recent years.
In their four years, the Cougars have made the NCISAA playoffs every year. They reached the semifinals the past three years (and put them in a position for another strong year this year) and won the 2A title in 2009.
So, it is easy to see why they wanted to continue their careers in college and why the NCAA Division-III schools they selected scooped them up. On Monday, Bergsma signed with Covenant (Ga.) College, Gunn with Methodist University, and Morrison with Guilford College.
“We’re going to miss them,” HPCA coach Corey Gesell said. “They’ve contributed so much and in so many ways to the success of our program. They’re great character kids, hard-working, good leaders and role models for our younger guys. So, we will miss them a lot.”
