High School Baseball Tonight:Eastern Wayne at NEG

Round Five of the NCHSAA 3-A East Regionals with the East Regional Finals beginning tonight at Northeast Guilford High School where the Rams will host EW…..

Eastern Wayne(20-7) at Northeast Guilford(27-1)…..

NEG will be ready to send Caleb McCann out to the mound after last night’s extra-inning win by the Rams over the Asheboro Blue Comets, 5-4, in 8 innings….

Northeast will meet the Eastern Wayne Warriors, a team that got past North Lenior. 3-1 back on Tuesday…..Eastern Wayne was led by Greg Simms and Dante Arthur, who both hit first inning solo home runs that pushed the Warriors in front to stay and allowed them to move into the Best-of-Three Regional Championship Series with Northeast Guilford tonight…..

Zach Monzingo(9-2) got the win for EW on Tuesday and chances are we won’t see him in Game One of the series tonight, but he could be back out there on the bump by Friday or Saturday if necessary…..

NEG was paced by pitcher Luis Paula in the Wednesday win over Asheboro and Josiel Colon’s strong arm in centerfield and Jacob McCann’s steady mitt at home plate helped give NEG a great boost last night and Jaylin Davis provided the BIG BLAST with his lead-off, walk-off Home Run that came in the bottom of the eighth inning and that proved to be the difference in the contest, no contest after 8, NEG moves on to face Eastern Wayne on Thursday night……

We will have updates on this game and the Southeast Guilford at TC Roberson ball game for you here at the site over the course of the evening……You should see the first updates at around 7:15/7:30 pm………
