GREENSBORO — East Davidson’s offense had plenty of chances to do something with the ball Friday night against the Southern Guilford Storm at C.K. Siler Stadium. Unfortunately for the Golden Eagles it was because the Storm’s offense never spent a whole lot of time on the field. Once Southern Guilford got into its rhythm offensively, the East defense could do little but get in the way in a 35-0 defeat.

“They’re better than us,” Golden Eagles coach Bryan Lingerfelt said. “They have speed and size, and we just got out-played. Our kids play hard, and I love their effort. But that team is just a better team. Our kids are doing everything they can to try and stay in there.”

After punting on their first possession, the Storm cracked the scoring column with a swift two play, 55-yard drive, highlighted by Malik Moseley’s 46-yard sprint to the end zone in which the junior knifed through minimal resistance into open air. Three minutes and another three-and-out later from the Eagle offense, and Southern Guilford needed just two more plays to tack on another long score. This one came through the air as Jamie Cunningham connected with Paul Say for a 30-yard touchdown pass, giving the Storm a 13-0 advantage.
