Women’s Volleyball Final – Va. Wesleyan 3, Guilford 2

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – Virginia Wesleyan College came back for a 3-2 Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) volleyball win over visiting Guilford College Saturday. The Marlins improved to 3-5 (1-2 ODAC) with a 25-19, 16-25, 23-25, 25-17, 15-13 triumph.

Kala Guy paced the home team with a game-high 17 kills on .471 hitting. She also had four service aces, 11 digs and a block. Tempe Marten chipped in with 13 kills. Allie Bal had 27 assists and six digs, while teammate Mallory Slade added 13 kills and five pickups. Michaela Whitaker had 19 digs for Virginia Wesleyan.

Guilford’s Mary Moody had 10 kills and 22 digs for the Quakers. Laura Kopald added nine digs and two service aces. Emma Gunn had eight kills on .368 hitting, along with one solo block. Taylor Phillips led Guilford with 15 digs. Malikah French had eight kills on .316 hitting, along with six block assists.

The Quakers visit league-rival Randolph-Macon College Sunday (9/19) at 1:00 p.m.
