Women’s Volleyball: Guilford 0, Maryville 3

GREENSBORO, N.C. – The Quakers dropped a hard fought non-conference match to visiting Maryville College Friday night, 3-0 (25-10, 25-21, 25-21).

The Quakers (4-12) were lead by Emma Gunn’s seven kills on .429 hitting percentage. Mary Moody came up with a game-high 10 kills and also added eight digs in the match. Taylor Whitley recorded 31 assists and Laura Kopald chipped in with 8 kills. Senior libero Taylor Phillips paced the Quakers with 18 pickups.

The Scots (11-5) extend their win streak to six with the help of freshman Amanda Gunlikson’s eight kills on .636 hitting percentage. Kara Strickland added nine kills and seven digs. Maryville got some extra help from another freshman, Lauren Bonee, with 28 assists and seven digs. The Scots had a great team effort as Kristy Newman recorded eight kills and eight digs and Katherine Nadler picked up a team-high 16 digs.

Guilford will be back in action on Tuesday (10/4) as they take on cross-town rival Greensboro in Ragan-Brown Field House at 7:00 PM.
