Bison barely get by Bobcats, but it was enough on Friday night for the 7-3 victory

from Steve Hanf at www.hpe.com:

WINSTON-SALEM – Jarariel Simmons sat on the bench by himself, a dazed look on his face.

No, High Point Central hadn’t just suffered a dramatic defeat. In fact, an amazing game from the defensive lineman had allowed the Bison to hang on for a 7-3 victory over Glenn.

Turns out Simmons merely was shaking off the effects of a hit he took on the Bobcats’ final play. Even if had he been perfectly fine, however, the sophomore standout wouldn’t have been celebrating his own success.

“We had a few fourth downs where we had to stop them. It wasn’t just me,” Simmons said. “It was the defense as a whole. Everybody has their responsibilities. When they covered their responsibility, it allowed me to make plays.”

Simmons came up with three sacks of Paris Harris – including two on fourth-down plays – as Central improved to 4-5 overall and 2-2 in the Piedmont Triad 4A Conference thanks to a dominating defense. Maleek Peoples, Germaine Pratt and Rubin Crosby added big tackles, and Jacorey Davis owned the biggest play of all.
