Greensboro Day soccer tops previously unbeaten Wesleyan 2-1 on Monday evening, in High Point

This had to be the regular season game of the year, as the Greensboro Day School got past the Wesleyan Christian Academy in boys soccer on Monday evening, in High Point……The final was 2-1, with the Bengals over the Trojans and GDS came in at (17-2) overall, while Wesleyan hit the field on Monday, with a perfect (19-0) record for 2011……You gotta think this was the biggest win of the year so far for the Bengals and for Wesleyan, the Trojans must re-group quickly, as the playoffs get under way next week…..

HIGH POINT – When two good teams meet, every opportunity is important. On Monday evening, Greensboro Day took advantage of just one more opportunity and defeated, Wesleyan Christian 2-1 in front of a packed house at Wesleyan.

With the loss, the Trojans (19-1, 7-1 PACIS), ranked No. 1 in the state coaches association 3A private schools poll, dropped into a tie with Greensboro Day (18-2, 7-1), ranked No. 2 in the state poll, for the PACIS title.

Both teams have earned first-round byes will begin play in the NCISAA 3A state playoffs Tuesday, Oct. 25. For Wesleyan, the loss was a disappointing result, but Trojans coach Scott Reitnour hopes it will keep his squad focused moving forward into the playoffs.
