Greensboro College’s Danielle Duncan Named Preseason All-American

(GREENSBORO, N.C.) — Senior Pride women’s basketball player Danielle Duncan earned First Team preseason All-American honors from D3Hoops.com this week. As a junior, Duncan was recognized by D3Hoops.com as a First Team All-American after leading Greensboro to a record of 28-3, a USA South Conference championship, and an appearance in the NCAA Sweet 16. She averaged 21.8 points and 9.3 rebounds per game.

The spot light is nothing new for Duncan, as she has received postseason recognition following each of her three years on the court. In her debut campaign in 2007-08, Duncan was named Second Team All-State , Second Team All-Conference and made the USA South All-Tournament Team. As a sophomore in 2008-09, she was selected to the USA South First Team and All-Tournament Team. After taking a year off, Duncan returned to the floor last year and received All-American accolades from D3Hoops and WBCA in addition to All-Region, All-State, All-Conference, and Tournament Team honors.

Duncan, who already holds career school records in free throws made and attempted, is closing in on becoming the all-time scoring leader in Greensboro College history.

“If anyone is deserving of this achievement, it is Danielle,” said head coach Randy Tuggle. “She works hard to be perfect and is not willing to accept anything less.”

In her three years with The Pride, Greensboro has won 20-plus games each season en route to compiling a record of 76-14.

“If you look at her record and winning percentage it is obvious she has been a major part of the success that we have had” Tuggle added.

Duncan and The Pride will kick-off the 2011-12 campaign at home on November 16 with a 5 p.m. showdown against cross-town rival Guilford.
